Ok people. This is what i'm doing. I was interested in project management as i school. When i looked for a place to start my project management (from now on i'll be using PM, it's a big word to type ;)) i couldn't find a proper place that do PM as a separate subject. So i started my BCS (British computer society) examination. In that there's a subject called PM. It's the only subject i scored high. Anyway as my search for PM institution i found PMS - project management solutions
It's a newly started institution situated in Kirulapana avenue colombo. I was bit shaky in deciding this as my PM education point but after i went there i got the feeling it's gonna be the place for me to start my PM journey.
I signed up for Diploma In Project management course. It's a middle level Program they offer, it's in between CAPM and PMP.
I have to say i really like the format they use to conduct the lectures and for the whole course. Anyhow i just need to submit the final assignment to get through the diploma. Along with that i have started the PMI certified CAPM course.
It's a certificate level course that we need to through with PMBOK (Project management Body of Knowledge) 4th edition. i'll be explaining what is the PMBOK.
So this is what i do so far. join me through this CAPM journey.

what is PMI?
For me when i wanna do project management there was no institution i know that do project management in Srilanka. As usual i Google project management the name that pop is PMI.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) is offering a range of services to the Project Management profession such as the development of standards, research, education, publication, networking-opportunities in local chapters, hosting conferences and training seminars, and maintaining multiple credentials in project management.
The PMI is a world wide recognized institution. A professional organization. The PMI was founded in 1969 and serves and focus on Project management. The organization is now forced with 285000+ members. The PMI is offering credentials, they are
* Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
* Project Management Professional (PMP)
* PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)
* PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)
* Program Management Professional (PgMP)
First Step
I'm a student who's studying project management. I have done my Diploma in project management at PMS (Project management solutions). If i say about the institution i have to say it's a wonderful place to be educated. The lecture was well knowledge about the stream, hospitality is superb, the study materials are actually very good. The method of teaching works fine with me (i think it's same with others too).
Anyway the reason to start a blog about project management came to my mind when my lecture told about writing and reading again what we learn. So i thought if i started a blog I'll be going through what i learned again and it'll help me to keep my self update.
I'm happy to say that i have started my CAPM course, and it's so hard. No lie it's the truth. I'll elaborate more about CAPM in my next post. Until then i got to stop.
